In the writing under this picture it states, "The newspaper later admitted that the hood and weapon had been digitally imposed onto a file photo of a San Antonio police officer."

I believe this alteration was made to add emphasis on the topic of racism throughout the police force. 

Image Two:

The photographer altered this image by merging two photos together. The soldier was trying to warn the Iraqi civilians to take cover, but he changed it to seem like the soldier was acting rude towards that mad holding a child.

I think his alterations made the photo look like it has a completely different meaning.
